We are winding down from a very creative and productive school year.
K thru 2nd grades have made beautiful picture frames that will hold a photo of themselves with friends.
3rd thru 5th grades have learned how to illustrate a story, how to write about images and artwork that they
have viewed recently, including TAR BEACH 2 by Faith Ringgold. Sister Yasmeen's 5th grade are interviewing
classmates in order to write a concrete poem combined with a contour drawing of their friends' face.
6th, 7th and 8th grades have been focused on the art of portraiture, using Beauford Delaney's portrait of
James Baldwin as a model and sample to what a portrait painting should be.
